Merintor and Adramal. 1988. As the picture suggests, Merintor (standing) and Adramal (sitting) will eventually meet and become friends of a sort, although their relationship will be more like teacher and pupil, or parent and child (in that order). They have the same goals, but have different ideas about how to go about achieving them. They're on the edge of a desert, which made the background very easy ;-) At this point in the story, Adramal is faced with a very hard decision, and has asked Merintor's advice. The text at the bottom of the picture is probably a bit hard to read after I scaled it down for the Web. Adramal says: "It's a choice between two kinds of pain. Whatever I do, people will die because of it." Merintor replies: "I know. I'm sorry. I don't find it easy to make choices like this either. But think about what I said. It may help you decide."
If you're wondering why you can't see Merintor's feet, it's because she's dead. Don't let it bother you. (And because I'm no good at feet.) If you've noticed that Adramal looks different in this picture from the other picture of her, please keep the fact to yourself. The original is A4 (about 8" by 11.5"), in rollerball pen, coloured pencils and artists' ink.
