Poser Animation Sets and Poses

Faces and Hands
Animation Sets

Here are some resources for use with MetaCreations' Poser versions 3 and 4. They're in .ZIP format. There aren't any thumbnails on this page: the files are so small that I reckon by the time your browser had read them and you'd decided whether you wanted them, you could've downloaded them anyway ;-) I created all of this on a PC, and I have no idea whether it'll work on the Mac. If it does, fine. If not, I'm afraid I don't know enough about the Mac to be able to help you.

While you're here, you may like to take a look at some of the pictures that use these poses. In fact, why not check out the rest of the site as well?

Faces and Hands

Here are some facial expressions and hand poses. They all use the standard Poser 3 and 4 figures, and should work on any figure whose face or hands are based on those.

Click to download faces (9 poses, 94K ZIP file).
Click to download hands (3 poses, 31K ZIP file).

To install them, create a directory under X\Runtime\libraries\face or \hand, as appropriate. (X stands for the directory where Poser is installed. The default location under Windows is C:\Program Files\MetaCreations\Poser 3 or Poser 4.)

Unzip the .ZIP file and copy the files into this directory. There's also a file called readme.txt, which is an ASCII version of this page.

If you go to the library in Poser, and look in Poses, Hands or Faces, you'll see a category with the same name as the directory you just created. The thumbnails for the poses will be in here.

The facial expressions are as follows: Defiance, Enigma (enigmatic smile), Idiot (big stupid grin), Joker (as in Batman - big evil grin - you'll have to supply the green hair yourself ;-), Startle, Sulk, Sultry, Tearful, and Uh-oh.

The hand poses are: Holdgun, Holdstik and Stikemup (stick 'em up!). The gun and stick aren't included.

Animation Sets

Here are 3 animation sets for MetaCreations' Poser versions 3 and 4.

Click here to download (31K ZIP file).

I created them in Poser 2, so there's no facial expression or hand movement. They should work with all of the human figures in Poser.

To install them, unzip the .ZIP file and copy the .pz2 and .rsr files into: X\Runtime\libraries\Pose\Animation Sets

where X is the directory where Poser is installed. The default location under Windows is C:\Program Files\MetaCreations\Poser 3 or Poser 4. There's also a file called readme.txt, which is an ASCII version of this page.

If you go to the library in Poser, and look in Poses, Animation Sets, you should see 3 new thumbnails.

The animation sets are as follows (the numbers tell you how many frames each one has):

DblTk_61: A double take. The character is looking around for something, and then looks up and sees it falling towards them. They step out of the way just in time.

Kiss_30: A kiss. The character leans forward to give someone a quick peck on the cheek, pats them on the head, and then moves back.

Strtch46: Stretch and flop. The character stretches upwards, raising their arms in the air. They hold this position for a moment, and then flop forward.

Kiss_30 is meant to play at around 25 frames/second. The other two are meant to play at around 50 frames/second. (This is for boring technical reasons connected with output to video tape.) If you find they're too fast or too slow, use the "Retime Animation" option on the "Animation" menu to adjust them.
